HandWorks was founded in 1976, responding to the need for a forum for fine craftsmen in the Shenandoah Valley and beyond. We originally presented a small gallery of handmade pottery, jewelry, metalwork, textile arts, furnishings, and toys. Sallie Ebert Grundman, founder and stained glass artist, had her studio on site, creating architectural stained glass for valley homes, churches, and businesses.
Since that day, the gallery has moved to our present site, 8 times larger than the original, right on the Old Town Winchester walking mall. We have expanded our collection to include handmade works from selected areas over the entire globe, while maintaining a fine selection of locally produced fine crafts and art. We seek those works that express the joy and depth of the human spirit, works that touch the place in us where we are all connected.
Our collection now not only includes pottery, jewelry, metal craft and textiles, but musical instruments, CD's, home furnishings and garden art. We have a sitting/reading area called the Global Village Room. We provide free handmade gift wrapping, and complete packing and shipping services. Our business is a family business, and you are a member.
